Top 5 Cafes for Plant-Based Foodies

'Plant based' has been a huge buzz word over the recent months, with several cafes adding more plant-focused dishes to their menus. However, as is often the case when new food trends emerge, it's hard to pick the good ones...that's where we step in! After trying our fair share of cafes all around Adelaide, we've rounded up 5 cafes that are a go-to for plant-based foodies.

1.  J A M U
Ok, where to begin…Jamu is our number one spot for all things raw, vegan and delicious! Their entire cabinet is stocked to the brim with raw treats, including their snickers popsicle, raw ‘Tom Tam’ and walnut and cacao protein brownie…the choices are endless! Not only do they have an incredible display of raw treats, they also have an extensive smoothie, juice, porridge and granola menu, as well as pre-packaged goodies like chia puddings and veggie cups! Jamu is the perfect one-stop shop for all the goodies you need to brighten your day.

2.  K A R M A   A N D   C R O W
Karma and Crow specializes in all-day brekkie and brunch. Their menu changes seasonally, which means you’re always guaranteed a high-quality and flavourful dish. Not only does Karma and Crow excel in making plants the show-stopper of the plate, but their coffees cannot be faulted…with a selection of filter, cold brew and nitro!
Favourite menu items: Charcoaled Broccoli, Purple Pepper Kale, Black Toast, Smoked Hummus and Toasted Pepitas

If you haven’t heard of Bowlsome, where have you been?! After launching their first store in Henely Beach only two years ago, Bowlsome has grown their nutrient-packed salad-bowl cafes all over Adelaide, now standing as a go-to lunch option for busy bypassers. Bowlsome is a great option if you're short on time but still want a nourishing meal. They’re not your typical salad bar, as you can pick a bowl from their extensive menu, or build your own from options such as coconut rice and soba noodles to tuna sashimi and miso-roasted sweet potato! They’ve also recently expanded their range to include smoothies and smoothie bowls, wraps and meal plans.

4.  C R A C K   K I T C E H E N 
Conveniently located in Adelaide’s CBD, this bright, open space on Franklin street offers a range of seasonal plant-based meals, in addition to organic teas, fresh juices and coffee from their upper-level roastery. The all-day menu offers something for all food preferences, from vegan tofu scrambles with creamed broccoli, to BBQ Harissa pumpkin salads. Or if your fellow dinners are into something a bit fancier, why not try their orrichettie pasta with chilli oil and broccoli

5.  D E L I C I A   A C A I   &   P R O T E I N   B A R 
There’s no way we can publish a plant-based foodie guide without including an acai bar! Delicia Acai & Protein Bar have over 15 stores dotted around South Australia, which all feature their impressive range of acai, espresso, protein and raw treats. Given their extensive menu, we recommend making several trips to Delicia, as you’re going to want a taste absolutely everything...whether it be one of their specialty protein bowls containing a mass 30 grams of protein, or their Purple Burst health drink with acai and dragonfruit.
